early years

2001 - 2003!

The band was formed by frontman Gerard 

Way 

and drummer Matt Pelissier approximately one 

week after the nine eleven in 2001.

Witnessed the nine eleven attacks, Gerard, 

vocals, watched people die that day, it 

influenced him that much that he felt he 

needed to do something with his life, and 

therefore he started a band, My Chemical 

Romance.

he wrote the song 

Skylines and Turnstiles 

this was the first dong by 

MCR.

Him and mikey were the first two members of 

my chemical romance, they then hired ray toro 

because gerard could not play guitar and sing 

at the same time. Mikey Way dropped out of 

college so he could join the band.  He also 

came up

 with the name after reading a book 

'three tales of chemical romance' he threw a 

my infront of it to make it more catchy.
